At just 24 years old, Isaac Anguiano represents a new generation of ultramarathon runners that are young, ambitious, and using endurance sports as a platform to inspire others to challenge themselves in every area of life.
A Local Taking on the Ultimate Challenge
Isaac isn't your typical ultra runner. As a Sparks, Nevada local, he's made a bold decision for 2026: he's not just competing in one ultramarathon, he's taking on both the Sparks Backyard Ultra in June AND the Biggest Little Ultra in October.
For most runners, one ultra per year is more than enough. But Isaac sees these races as more than just athletic challenges. They're opportunities to test his limits, discover what he's truly capable of, and inspire others to do the same.
Racing at Home: The Power of Community Support
What makes Isaac's commitment even more special is the unique advantage of racing in his hometown. While many ultra runners travel hours or even fly across the country to compete in races where they know no one, Isaac gets to experience something different.
"The best part about these races is that my friends and family can actually come out and watch me compete," Isaac shares.
The Sparks Marina provides the perfect venue for this kind of community support. Unlike remote trail races, spectators can easily access multiple viewing points, cheering runners on throughout the day and night. For Isaac, knowing his people are there and witnessing his struggle as well as celebrating his perseverance, will add a layer of meaning that transcends personal achievement.
More Than Just Miles: A Mission to Inspire
But Isaac's goals extend far beyond personal records or finish times. His real mission? To inspire others to take on their own challenges, whether in fitness or in life.
In a world where it's easy to play it safe, to stick with what's comfortable, Isaac is choosing the harder path. It might be exactly what someone else needs to see to believe they can do hard things too.
The 2026 Double Challenge
Isaac's 2026 race calendar is ambitious:
Sparks Backyard Ultra - June 2026 The innovative "last one standing" format where runners complete a 4.167-mile loop every hour, on the hour, until only one person remains. This race tests not just physical endurance but mental strategy and resilience.
Biggest Little Ultra - October 2026 A more traditional ultra offering multiple distance and timed options, giving Isaac the flexibility to choose his challenge based on his training and goals.
Both races. Both at the Sparks Marina. Both with the people who matter most cheering him on.
