2026 Sparks Backyard Ultra: A Memorable Race Experience
The 2026 Sparks Backyard Ultra on June 20, 2026, was a thrilling event that brought together competitors from all over to participate in this exciting backyard ultra format for the very first time at Sparks Marina. Runners of all levels gathered to test their endurance, camaraderie, and love for the sport in a unique and challenging environment. This year’s race was filled with unforgettable moments, as participants pushed their limits while enjoying the supportive atmosphere created by fellow competitors. The excitement was palpable, and the energy was contagious, making it a truly special occasion for everyone involved.

We're excited to recognize the incredible performances from this year's competition! On the men's side, Kenny Krygier (pictured center below) claimed first place with an impressive 25 yards, while Isaac Anguiano (pictured on right) and Aaron Hill (pictured on left) tied for second place at 24 yards each. In the women's division, Nicole Ward took the top spot with 9 yards, followed by Eva Chen in second place with 7 yards, and Kayle Bicknell rounding out the podium in third with 6 yards. Congratulations to all our top finishers, your dedication and effort made this event one to remember!

2027 Sparks Backyard Ultra is a Bronze Ticket Event
Sparks Backyard ultra is proud to be a Bronze Ticket race for 2027. A Bronze event is a qualifying race, sanctioned by Lazarus Lake, within the "Road to Bigs" championship series. The winner (the last person standing) of the Sparks Backyard race earns a spot in a Silver Ticket event which is the next level up where participants compete for a place on their National Team for the World Team Championship.
The winner of the Sparks Backyard Ultra will receive a bronze coin which serves as a ticket to the Silver event. So, start training and sign up now for a shot at a bronze ticket and a path to the individual world championships by way of the world team championships.
