Hey running and walking warriors! With the Biggest Little Ultra fast approaching on October 10-12, 2025, at beautiful Sparks Marina, we know you're putting the finishing touches on your race strategy. But let's talk about something equally important: the logistics that can make or break your ultra experience. We've got you covered with everything you need to know about sleeping arrangements, setting up your personal aid station, and those all-important restroom locations. Let's dive in!
The Rest Situation: Tents and Canopies
The race organizers will have a BIG canopy (20' x 10') with cots and blankets. It can be used by all racers to sleep, rest, and hang out.
Here's the straight scoop on camping: tents are not allowed at the course due to rules given to us by the Sparks police department.
You can have a personal pop-up canopy. Be sure to use sandbags or weights to hold down the pop-up as it can get windy. You cannot use stakes hammered into the ground. This could burst a pipe and we don't want to inflict any pain on the marina grounds. If you choose to break this rule and burst a pipe, the participant will be responsible for the cost of the repair. So please, plan accordingly and bring a heavy kettleball or other system to tie down your personal canopies.
RV Life: Limited Spots for the Ultimate Race Experience
For those of you rolling up in style with an RV, trailer, or camper van, the Biggest Little Ultra has secured limited spaces on a first-come, first-served basis. This is where things get exciting! You can literally sleep steps away from the race course.
Here's how to secure your spot: first, register for the race, then send an email to Race Director Todd Leigh at toddleigh1@gmail.com. But remember the rules – no rig longer than 30 feet, trucks must be unhitched and parked in designated areas, and absolutely no fluid discharge. Display your permit proudly!
If you miss out on the course RV spots, don't sweat it! The convenient Sparks Marina RV Park with full hookups is located very near the racecourse at 1200 E. Lincoln Way. It's practically next door to your ultra adventure!
Personal Aid Stations: Your Secret Weapon for Success
Here's where the Biggest Little Ultra truly shines – you can set up your personal aid station anywhere along the race course starting Friday at 7:00 a.m.! This is a game-changer for ultra success.
Picture this: you're grinding through hour 15 of your 24-hour adventure, and there it is – your personal oasis with exactly the foods you've trained with, your favorite electrolyte mix, maybe that special juice that gets you through the tough miles, and a comfortable chair where your crew can cheer you on.
Prepare your personal aid station. You may want to have a table and chairs along with medical supplies as a participant. If this is your first race, we recommend that you over-prepare with a great first aid kit, chafing balm, band-aids, backup shoes and socks, and other items to support your runner. Area E is immediately adjacent to the race course and is specifically available for personal aid stations, chairs, and tables.
Your crew will love having a designated spot to support you throughout the race. They can track your progress, offer encouragement, and provide those crucial nutrition boosts that keep you moving toward your goal. Remember, no tents or sleeping in Area E, but during the race window, this becomes your personal command center.
Restroom Facilities: No More Porta Potty Panic!
Let's talk about one of the most practical concerns for any ultra – restroom availability. The Biggest Little Ultra has this covered better than most races! You'll find two real restrooms along the course itself, plus porta potties near the start line.
Northside restroom will be open all 48 hours of the race!
Southside restroom open each day from 7:00 am - 7:30 pm.
In addition, 3 portapotties will be open 24 hours near the start / finish line.
Think about what this means for your race strategy. During those long loops, you're never more than a mile away from proper facilities. No more timing your bathroom breaks around aid station locations or worrying about finding privacy during night hours. The course is paved and lighted, making those necessary stops safe and accessible at any time.
For many ultra runners, bathroom anxiety can be a significant concern, especially during longer events. At the Biggest Little Ultra, you can focus on your pacing, nutrition, and performance goals without worrying about this basic necessity. It's one less variable in an already complex equation!
The Big Picture: Why These Logistics Matter
These logistics aren't just about convenience – they're about setting you up for ultra success. When you don't have to worry about where you'll sleep, whether your crew has a good setup spot, or if restrooms will be available when needed, you can channel all your mental energy into achieving your distance and time goals.
The Biggest Little Ultra's approach to logistics reflects their overall philosophy: remove the stress and uncertainty so you can focus on testing your limits. Whether you're chasing your first 50-mile finish, attempting your inaugural 100-miler, or seeing how far you can go in 48 hours, these thoughtful logistics create the perfect environment for personal achievement.
Your Race, Your Way
The beauty of loop courses like the Biggest Little Ultra is the flexibility they provide. With your personal aid station strategically placed, comfortable accommodations nearby, and reliable facilities along the course, you can customize your race experience to match your goals and preferences.
Maybe you're the type who prefers frequent check-ins with your crew for motivation. Perfect – they'll be right there every loop! Or perhaps you're more of a self-sufficient runner who just wants to know the essentials are covered so you can get lost in your own rhythm. These logistics support both approaches beautifully.
As Race Director Todd Leigh reminds us, this race is designed to let you "set a P.R. at your chosen distance" without stressing about cutoffs or complicated logistics. It's about finding out "how far you can go in 6, 12, 24 or 48 hours" while enjoying a glorious venue and great support.
